And so, you’ve got your fish tank established. Or perhaps you’re ready to set up your aquarium, and you need a whole number of swimming, happy fresh water fish  to populate your aquarium acrylic tank, right?  Well, relax and decide exactly what sort of fish you would like in there.

Maybe you want some that are extremely energetic, so they’re always moving and interesting you. Or maybe you’re considering those with vivid, vibrant colors. Or possibly you want something else entirely.

Any way you look at it, you are going to need fish for a glass or aquarium acrylic tank. Choosing the kind of fish that you might want may take some time, especially if you are planning on having several breeds alongside one another.

Make sure to investigate before purchasing a single thing, because you risk fish loss and ultimate death if you don’t!

Research: Not All That Difficult

Staff at a fish supply store will be able to tell you a lot regarding the best thing to keep your prospective fish happy and strong inside their aquarium, and you may find that they’re more knowledgeable than you previously expected. There are numerous questions to think about, including:

• Will this particular fish like open places, or plenty of vegetation?
• Does this fish prefer alkaline or acidic water (Lower pH verses higher pH)?
• Does this fish get along with others?
• What are the eating requirements for this fish? Will he or she eat at the top of the fish tank, or the bottom?
• Just how much room will this kind of fish need?
• Just what temperature does this kind of fish thrive in?

This is important and often forgotten…

If you want several kinds of fish in your aquarium acrylic tank, attempt to match these as carefully as possible.  You wouldn’t want them eating each other, would you?  There are many books on what fish are compatible with other fish and the subject is too complicated to discuss here, but this fact isimportant for a successful aquarium.
